Von Roenn Permaculture is Gustave von Roenn, PDC. You can call me Gus. I studied at Creighton University and received a bachelors degree in anthropology and sociology. I most recently studied in Costa Rica under re-known permaculturist Scott Pittman with the Permaculture Institute. I'm a certified permaculture design consultant who can assist you or your landscape designer as well as your architect to design a property which uses less energy and less water to maintain itself.
Permaculture is a sustainable way of living in which you enhance the productivity of your land to potentially develop an edible landscape. It is an ecological design system for sustainability in all aspects of human endeavor. It teaches us how to build natural homes, grow our own food, restore diminished landscapes and ecosystems, catch rainwater, build communities and much more.
CREDENTIALS
My experience in construction gives me an insight into how to reduce your dependence on paid utilities in order to keep your property productive. As a certified permaculture design consultant I can offer advice which will improve the efficiency of your residence and your property as a whole.
From collecting rainwater to raising chickens, there are no solutions too grand, or too small. Every property can use improvement in sustainability, even a farm! Energy and food prices do not have to raise that much more for people to realize the value of growing food right outside their door. Permaculture is already a flourishing phenomenon on both coasts of the United States. Over the past few years energy and food costs have slowly lowered the standard of living for people in the Midwest. "The Good Life" means we enjoy a cheaper cost of living amongst flourishing agriculture. Yet few people in the Midwest realize that much of the food we depend on comes from very far away. Much of the agriculture in the Midwest is grown to produce meat, high fructose corn syrup or fuel. Not to mention, most agriculture produced here depends entirely on fossil fuels. What is $5 gas going to do to food prices here in the "World's bread basket"? Ironically, the Midwest is not ready for energy volatility despite residing over the best soil on earth. Therefore, costly agriculture is the one obstacle in the way for more of "The Good Life". Permaculture concepts used on any land will solve all of these global energy and agricultural crises, in a local way.
Ultimately, a permaculture design is a way to encourage you to become a productive component of your community. A highly productive piece of land in a neighborhood will lead by example. If you are the first in your neighborhood to embrace permaculture, then you will soon be the envy of all of your neighbors come harvest time. So don't waste any more time and let me help you create an efficient edible landscape worthy of your neighbors' desire.
